How end-to-end encryption settings work

Enable or recover encryption keys for supported private chats.

Privacy & Security includes End-to-End Encryption settings for supported private messaging.

If encryption has not been enabled, choose Enable E2EE to create the required encryption setup. If encryption keys already exist but are not unlocked on the current device, the settings show that the keys need recovery and provide a Recover Keys action.

When the device has active keys, the setting shows E2EE Active.
